Ok then I take it back. You can achieve multi track recording for a few

tracks (< 10) with a single IDE. Go for more RAM.
But if you want to take advantage of Jack then you will be doing more

than 10 tracks pretty quickly.
Although I'm not suggesting we all start taking advantage of Jack.
