Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat released

For those who use a real-time kernel and up to date applications from PPA's (Personal Package Archives) installing or upgrading to Ubuntu Maverick Meerkat might not be such a good option. There are no official real-time -rt kernel packages available and most multimedia PPA's do not package for Maverick so a lot of applications are simply not available for Maverick. For the moment it's better to stick with 10.04 Lucid Lynx and wait for 11.04 Natty Narwhal. There are plans to set up a dedicated Ubuntu Studio PPA for Natty Narwhal, and hopefully by that time the maintenance of the -rt kernel packages will be picked up again too because for now they are not being maintained anymore.
